Vertebrates Power Point!

Vertebrates!!
This week in science we have been learning all about vertebrates! We stated our unit by creating using "Kidsperation" to classify vertebrates!

Then the kids worked in 5 groups to become experts on their class (reptiles, mammals, amphibians, birds, and fish). Then, they added their information to the class PowerPoint! They did a great job working together to create this project!

Day 2 of our Author Study!

The kids were so excited about working on their books today. We continued to work on our Pigeon books and so far they are coming along nicely!

The Pigeon Wants to Learn Karate

I love this story! Written and Illustrated by 4 of my first graders!

The next one the kids are still working on but I love how it's coming along.

By the end of the day this group decided they wanted to use colored card stock and type their final draft. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! It's brand new and a work in progress, but I am excited to begin sharing some of the fun and interesting things going on in our class.

Today we started a Mo Willems author study. We've read many of his stories and are focusing on one of our favorite series involving a certain pigeon! The Pigeon books are great examples of persuasive writing since the Pigeon is usually begging for the readers permission to do something through his hilarious rationale and logic.

Today we began making our very own versions of The Pigeon Books. The students worked in groups of four to brainstorm ideas and create a story board. Tomorrow we are starting the books. Here's this first story board...I love it!
